Council Scholarships

Scholarships awarded to the children or grandchildren of council members are another aspect of our proud heritage. The Santa Maria Council has established the Miles/Prebys Scholarship and the Irvin Micinski Scholarship to recognize the efforts or our youth and aid them and their families in the pursuit of their education. The scholarships are described below. Each scholarship must be applied for with the Santa Maria Scholarship Committee, which will determine the recipients. The first order of the Knights of Columbus is Charity. As such the need for assistance weighs heavily when selecting a recipient of our scholarships.

Our Miles/Prebys Scholarship is a full four (4) year scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman child of a living or deceased council member, who will attend St. Joseph High School in South Bend or Marian High School in Mishawaka. This scholarship is restricted to children of council members, living and deceased, who are or were in good standing.

Our Irvin Micinski Scholarship provides assistance for children and/or grandchildren of council members, living or deceased, who are or were in good standing. Two of the Micinski Scholarships are awarded annually. Students may reapply for this scholarship each year that they attend one of the Catholic high schools in South Bend or Mishawaka.
